Aloha from Paradise, Some thoughts from a far away land.........

Folks should keep only cheerful friends. The unhappy friends pull you down and only serve to remind you of your problems. If you can't help them, lose them.

I think we need to keep thinking all the time. Never let you brain go into neutral...become computer literate regardless of your age, learn to talk your grandchildren's language, they'll think it's cool and everyone your age will be envious. Play games, shoot the TV...................the devils name is Alzheimer's.

Learn to enjoy the simple things. The beach doesn't cost anything. Birds in flight are free, and fishing is the best way I know to enjoy being alone. Enjoy all the things that God created.........the stars, the moon, the sea, the clouds, the rain, the critters, the flowers, and life itself. Never...........Ever.......let it get the best of you. There are those of us who care who never take the time to tell you so. We spend quality time helping others and enjoy each others company while we toil. It is not work!

Laugh! Laugh out loud...laugh so hard you have to grasp for breath...laugh often, long and hard...if you have not discovered what makes you laugh this way, you have wasted half your life. Laugh so hard, you can be tracked down in a crowded room, by your distinctive laughter. I love people whom I know their laugh first, before I ever see them, these are my people!

Pain happens. Endure pain, grief, or tragedy and then move on. We already have enough martyrs. The only person we are with our entire lives is ourselves. Be alive while you are alive. Live life until you die...then taper off.

Learn to love home. Fill it with pets, plants, books, games, friends, firewood, music, hobbies, pictures, comfort clothes, and that one person that makes the inside of your toes itch when they touch you in the dark! Your home is your refuge!

Don't take guilt trips. You are the only one that can write this ticket. If you make a mistake, make it right and then forget it. My friends love me in spite of my faults, and if they don't, I find new friends. A true friend is someone that knows you act, and still enjoys the show.

If you love someone, tell them, every chance you get. Be corny with it. Let everyone know by telling them in public. Say it often, smile and hug them. Love is an action, not an emotion...this is one of life's great lessons. It took me 40 years to understand it.

Let the doctor worry about the "numbers" in your life, like age, weight, and electrolytes. Help them, but don't worry about it...let them do their job, that's why you pay them.

Finally, remember this................Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away! When you are gone, people will not remember you first, they will remember what you did for other people, then they will think of you. Make some memories, I am. And remember...keep smiling.
